Yellow note on pink background with text "DON'T JINX IT." and "How to say 'Don't jinx it' in Mandarin Chinese?" taped at corners.

In English "Don’t Jinx it." can be used in both good or bad situations.

For example, if Xiao Ming and Xiao Si  are watching a football game together.

Xiao Ming said: "Team A will win!"

Whether his friend Xiao Si support Team A or not , Xiao Si can always say: “Don’t Jinx it!” to Xiao Ming. It’s more like “Don’t make a conclusion too early.”

However, in Chinese, We will use different sentences depending on the situation.

What Xiao Si says depends on whether Xiao Si  support Team A or not.

Let's assume the same situation happens again.

Xiao Ming said: "Team A will win!"

If Xiao Si doesn't support Team A, Xiao Si may say 你不要烏鴉嘴!Nǐ bú yào wū yā zuǐ (Don’t jinx it.)

If Xiao Si  supports Team A, Xiao Si may say 你不要太早下結論! Nǐ bú yào tài zǎo xià jié lùn (Don’t jinx it.) or 還不知道呢!Hái bù zhī dào ne (We don't know yet.)

Okay! Let's summarize:

If it's something bad, and you don't want the bad thing to happen, you can say, 你不要烏鴉嘴!Nǐ bú yào wū yā zuǐ (Don’t jinx it.)

If it's not something bad, but you are not 100% agree with the other person's guess, you can say, 你不要太早下結論! Nǐ bú yào tài zǎo xià jié lùn (Don’t jinx it.) or 還不知道呢!Hái bù zhī dào ne (We don't know yet.)

Yellow note on pink background with text "Nǐ bù yào wū yā zuǐ" in Chinese and Pinyin. Energetic mood with exclamation marks and tape. 你不要烏鴉嘴

Yellow sticky note with Chinese text and pinyin reads "Nǐ bù yào tài zǎo xià jié lùn!" on pink background, taped corners. Energetic mood.你不要太早下結論

Yellow note with Chinese text "还不知道呢!" and "HÁI BÙ ZHĪ DÀO NE" over pink background, taped at corners. Mood: curious.還不知道呢

These are phrases I often use when chatting with close friends!

I hope this is helpful to you!
