For a long time, we worked hard to study books related to Taiwan's history, and also discussed movies and dramas related to Taiwan's history.
Some people think that we should look forward and history is not that important.
Some people also think that understanding the past can help them understand their current position and know which direction to go in the future.
When I was a child, I preferred the former. Therefore, when I visited the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall with my overseas friends, I was overwhelmed by a series of questions and had no idea what to do. I could only respond with an embarrassed smile.
And thanks to the teaching challenges, after countless early morning readings and late night readings, maybe one day overseas friends will visit Taiwan again, and maybe I will be able to calmly talk about my insights on these historical events.
For beginners of Chinese, of course, it is not easy to read Chinese books. I suggest you start with a movie or drama with subtitles in your native language, plus Chinese dubbing. Give yourself the challenge of watching the movie until the end. (or one episode), you need to find and write down ten words or sentences in Mandarin Chinese (depending on your current Chinese level)
For intermediate and advanced learners, we can select a topic or event, set reading a chapter as a goal, and set small goals to be completed every day (or week), and implement them. When the goal is achieved, you will have a great sense of accomplishment and am very proud of yourself!
Then, movies and dramas can be used as reward time for yourself. At the same time, you will also feel more deeply about many scenes in movies and dramas.
(For intermediate and advanced learners, it is highly recommended to read before watching movies or dramas)
Here are some books, movies, and dramas related to Taiwan's history:

I plan to share my reflections (reading experiences) on the above movies, dramas and books for those of you who are interested in Taiwanese history.
Of course, feel free to join our discussion!
